Emeralds from the Panjshir Valley (translated to "valley of the five lions") are extremely limited in supply due to the precarious nature of the high altitude mines and extreme weather. Mining techniques are crude and by hand so it is quite rare to find gem quality material, especially larger crystals.
This is a lovely colour zoned piece, very rare.
Panjshir emeralds draw some similarities to Columbian emeralds having green and blue hues and are regarded widely as some of the best emerald in the world.
