A superb, electric teal faceted Hauynite, also known as Hauyne, from Afghanistan. This is only the second location in the world where the mineral is viably mined. This gem also has a green component, described by the GIA in their 2008 brief studying the material in Afghanistan. This green hue is not seen in the German material.
Hauynite crystals rarely grow to sizes of above half a carat and gem quality faceted material like this specimen are exceptionally rare.
Hauyne from this location has a very strong reaction to UV light torch where the UV light literally paints the gem with fluorescence.
